Evelyn Pearson Obituary

Eveyln Ireland-Pearson, 63, passed away on January 4, 2020 at the Milford, Delaware Hospice Center while surrounded by loved ones.  She was born in Bordeaux, France on February 18, 1956 and lived there until she moved to the U.S. with her parents and two sisters, at the time.

Eveyln resided in various locales throughout Delaware; primarily in Dover where she attended Dover High School.  Her training as a waitress and later as a nurse’s aide, prepared her to serve others on a daily basis.  She served with heart and compassion.  After suffering a debilitating injury, resulting from the care of a patient, Eveyln was forced into medical retirement.  Even so, her loving caring attention was focused on her husband Ben, who faced military connected health issues of his own.

Her mother, the late Anita Gottschalk Ireland Mills considered Eveyln the second best cook in the family, after herself, of course.  They especially enjoyed exchanging recipes and taking turns preparing chitterlings, which wasn’t exactly an all-time family favorite.  She didn’t limit her talents.  She was skilled at producing timeless dishes such as, macaroni and cheese, various greens, turkey necks, and of all things, pig’s feet with beans.  In spite of lacking baking skills, it was widely known that her food was “off the planet.”

Eveyln was an avid reader.  Besides the bible, which was always close at hand, she was often found enjoying a nice romance novel or watching an old classic western on television.  She understood that there are many storms in life, with ups and downs, full of complexities yet, at the core of it all is …Love.  She derived great comfort from the knowledge that God wants us to lean on him to carry on as she continuously sought his love and the love of her family.  She lived out loud and loved even harder.  She was a giving and generous person whose laughter filled a room with delight.  Words cannot begin to express how profoundly missed she will be by those who knew and loved her.

She is survived by her dad Gentry "Junior" Mills (Anita Ireland Mills, deceased) of Felton, DE, her husband Benjamin “Ben” Pearson of Wilmington, DE; three sons, Renaldo Johnson, aka Dana; Reginald Johnson, aka Chris; and Isaac Johnson, aka Thomas “Boo Boo,” as well as one daughter, Anita ”Neet” Pearson (Justin Freeman) of Hartley, DE, six siblings, Delma “Del” Mims (Eddie) of Creedmoor, NC; Lillian “Lilly” Allen (Starks, deceased) of Fairborn, Oh; Winter Ireland of Dayton, OH; Mildred “Mickey” Fagans (Willie, deceased) of Dover, DE; Carol Williams of Bear, DE; Deborah “Debbie” Butler of Felton, DE, Ben’s four children, Dwayne Pearson, deceased; Damon (Janel) Pearson, Atlanta, GA; Deron (Nicole) Pearson of Salisbury, MD; and Terica Price of Wilmington, DE, four in-laws, Donald (Corrine) Pearson, Newark, DE; Randy (Barbara) Pearson, Newark, DE; Helen Carson, New Castle, DE; and Larue Woodard, Middletown, DE.  She was blessed with loving grandchildren, uncles, aunts, cousins, nieces, nephews, and friends. A memorial service will be Saturday, January 18, 2020 at Pippin Funeral Home 119 W. Camden-Wyoming Ave. Wyoming, DE.
