Ella Rebecca Johns, 63, departed this life at Bayhealth Medical Center. She was born December 31, 1955 in Dover, Delaware daughter of the late Stanford and Ella Johns.
Ella worked for a period of time at Courtland Manor Nursing Home as a dietary aide until she started providing daycare services for her grandchildren. Her pastimes were playing bingo and playing cards. She was a member of First Pilgrim Baptist Church under the leadership of Bishop Dorena C. Miles.
Ella was preceded in death by her parents Stanford and Ella; her brothers William, Joseph and John Johns and her sisters Anna Mae, Elmar, Edna and Daisy Johns.
Ella is survived by her longtime companion Raymond Summers; her five children: Veronica Johns (Kinte), Jennifer Moore (Christopher), Tammy Johns (Brett), Danielle Johns (Denell) and her only beloved son Ginius Johns. She also leaved behind nine grandchildren: Cornell Johns, Anthony Johns, Malcolm Johns, Khadeja Johns, Marquis Johnson, Tim'Ayrah White, Krystal Moore, DeAnthony Johns, BreAunna Crosby, Jayda Jones and Kayla Jackson; ten great grandchildren and a host of nieces, nephews, family and friends. She also leaves to mourn a handful of close friends Darlene Allen, Joanne Walker, Betty Blocker, Lillian Jackson (Shy) and Rosemary Campbell and her Goddaughter Lazette.
A funeral service will be 1:00 P.M. Saturday, January 11, 2020 at First Pilgrim Baptist Church, 27 S. Caesar Rodney Avenue, Camden, DE 19934 where there will be a viewing from 12:00 P.M. until 1:00 P.M. Saturday. Burial will follow in Whatcoat United Methodist Church Cemetery, Dover.
