Doris Markland Gillard, of Dover, passed away Friday, May 5, 2017, in her home, surrounded by her loving family. She was 85.
Doris was born February 12, 1932, in Harrington, DE to the late Thomas & Mattie (Tibbitt) Markland.
Doris graduated from Dover High School in 1951 and shortly thereafter began working for Farmers Bank in Dover. It was there that she met the love of her life, James Gillard. They were married on November 1, 1952.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband of 64 years, James Gillard; and her daughter, Beryl Gillard.
Doris is survived by 3 Daughters and their husbands, Shari Burchenal & Terry, of Dover; Cynthia Killay & Jack, of Hooksett, N.H; and Melissa Barrett & Bobby, of Dover. 3 granddaughters, Shauna Killay, of Northwood, N.H.; Morgan & Mikayla Barrett, of Dover.; and a great-granddaughter, Ava Lamothe, of Northwood, N.H.
Doris was a wonderful wife and mother who loved and adored her family. She was happiest while in the company of her daughters and their families.
The family would like to extend a special Thank You to the caregivers from Home Instead Senior Care( Sue, Grace, Charlotte & Pat), who lovingly helped her daughters care for her during the past few years.
