Anthony Joseph Vilone of Lewes, Delaware, passed away peacefully on March 15. 2018 following a long illness. Anthony, also known as Tony or Sonny, was born on July 8, 1936 to the late Joseph and Anna (Bellomo) Vilone. Tony attended Delmar High School and proudly served in the U.S. Army for 7 years as a military policeman.
Tony was an outstanding provider for his family. He delivered bread for many years at Friehofer’s Bakery and later Del Campo Bakery in Wilmington, Delaware where he eventually retired.
Tony enjoyed boating and fishing. He had a love for classic cars from the 50’s era and he loved the music of Elvis Presley and Johnny Cash. He enjoyed yardwork and was very proud of his log cabin in Angola by the Bay, which he and his wife, Emma built. He loved his family and he loved to make people laugh with his many humorous stories.
He is survived by his devoted wife of 41 years whom he loved and adored, Emma (Duemler) Vilone, his children Corinna (Dean) Knapp, Joann (Michael) Vinson, Denise Anderson and stepson Jay (Catherine) Valentine; his grandchildren Randi, Tony, C.J., Jonathan, Cheyenne, Naomi and Shanti; great-grandchildren Maylin, Luke, Lincoln, Brooke, Levi, Adelynn, Christian and Vincent. Tony is also survived by his three brothers Joseph, Angelo (Cookie) and Tommy; a sister-in-law Wanda and two nieces Anjelica Ent and Danica Couch. He was predeceased by his niece, Angela Vilone.
A funeral service and interment will be held at Delaware Veterans Memorial Cemetery, 26669 Patriots Way, Millsboro, DE 19966 at 11:00 a.m, Friday, April 6, 2018.
