Gwendolyn “Annie” Maude Westbrook, known as “Annie” by most and “Gwen” through her childhood; delivered in welcome to the Lord on May 24,2018.
Gwendolyn Annie Maude Westbrook was born January 24, 1940 to Gertrude & John Mark Westbrook in Americus, Georgia.
Annie obtained the majority of her education in her hometown of Americus, GA. She hosted a many years in Maryland and New York. Annie also lived in New Jersey and Delaware upon some years of her gracious life. Annie worked for the Delaware State hospitals and Nursing facilities serving the chronically ill for 25 years, where she retired during the 1980’s. After reaching that retirement, Annie continued nursing care in Rochester, N.Y., and fostered children with great love. She enjoyed cooking, sewing, and crocheting; more so singing the gospel and attending church service.
She leaves behind four siblings, Ulysses Westbrook(N.Y.), Bertha Wooding(Ill.), James Westbrook(MD), and Lula Griffin(N.Y.). She is preceded in death by four other siblings, Marie Breedlove(Wis), William Westbrook(N.Y.), Nina Anderson(N.Y.), and Ada “Denise” Rivers(N.Y.) Annie is survived by six children, and in-laws; Phillip Worthy(Conn), Gail Worthey(DE), Robert Worthey(Elaine William,MD), Anthony Worthey(Cheryl)(Wisc), Imogene Baynard(Robert)(MD) and her youngest Michelle Westbrook(DE). She joins two of her children, James C. Worthey and Antoinette “Toni” Worthey. Annie also leaves a host of grandchildren, great-grandchildren and great-great-grandchildren, as well as cousins, nieces, nephews, foster children, and many friends. She will be Forever Loved.
Funeral Services will be held at 11am Saturday, June 2, 2018; in the Powerhouse Ministries, 115 E. Glenwood Ave. Smyrna, DE ; where family and friends may view 1 hour before. Burial will follow in Mount Zion Cemetery, Marydel, MD. Condolences may be sent via: www.pippinfuneralhome.com.
