Anna Stevenson Obituary

Anna E. Stevenson was born to the late Lola and Myrtle Burris, Sr. on December 15, 1932.  Anna departed this life on January 9, 2020 at the age of 87 at BayHealth Hospital in Dover, DE.  Anna was the wife of the late and loving husband Samuel Stevenson for 45 years.

Anna attended Willow Grove School.  Anna was a member of the Seventh Day Adventist Church of Dover, DE.  Anna loved working with families in their homes and was considered a family member to Dr. Widder and his family.  Anna (Mom Mom) enjoyed writing beautiful poems.  She was gifted in creating beautiful flower arrangements.  Anna loved working in her garden with her husband for many years until they were unable to attend to their garden anymore. She was an avid giver of her heart; she was also a giver from her home pantry that the church provided for her.  She loved sharing and socializing with the people who would come by her house to get the food.  Anna did not give up; she was still being used by the Lord even when she could no longer attend her church services anymore.  Anna was a strong woman of God and continued to Praise the Lord in all things.

Anna (Mom Mom) often said she knew the Lord was with her even when she was alone.  Anna loved the Lord and lived according to His word.  Anna (Mom Mom) and Samuel (Pop Pop) would have Bible study every Friday evening together.  They were not just readers of the Word, they also lived the Word.  Samuel (Pop Pop) always protected his wife and family.  When Samuel (Pop Pop) passed away a part of Anna (Mom Mom) went with him.  When you would see Anna (Mom Mom) you would see Samuel (Pop Pop).  They were such a great example of a Covenant relationship.  Anna (Mom Mom) loved to worship the Lord every Saturday evening at 6:00 P.M. with Bill and Gloria Gaither and the Gaither vocal band and singers on TV.

Anna (Mom Mom) loved her family especially when the grandchildren, her sons, her sisters, nieces and nephews would come by and visit her or when they would call her and check up on her; it made her day.  She was especially grateful for their calls and visits .  Anna (Mom Mom) even had the one she called the first one, not to mention any names.  Anna (Mom Mom) will be truly missed by all who knew her and loved her very much.

Anna was preceded in death by her loving husband Samuel Stevenson, a brother Hersell Hinson Burris and a sister Mary Madalene Cooper.  Anna (Mom Mom) leaves to cherish her loving memories three sons:  Larry (Louise Harris) Burris, Willow Grove, DE, Wayman Burris, Milford, DE, Charles (Joyce) Burris Wyoming, DE; one brother Myrtle (Joan) Burris, Jr. of Camden, DE; three sisters: Martha Bordley, Dover, DE, Lola Mae (Robert), Seaford, DE, Catherine (Lawrence) Craig, Camden, DE; nine wonderful grandchildren, 20 great grandchildren; two great great grandchildren and a host of nieces and nephews.
