Andrea Lisa Scott, affectionately known by her friends and loved ones as Nane, or Drea, gained her angel wings on Tuesday, March 26, 2019. Andrea was born in Brooklyn NY, and was raised by her grandmother Lucia Riley and aunt Cheryl Grace alongside 3 siblings Tabitha, Sharetta and Jamel. Andrea was raised as the middle child but knew how to step into the leadership role when need be.
Throughout elementary and junior high school, Andrea developed a passion for choreography, often teaching her siblings and cousins dance moves at family functions. Andrea attended her late grandfather's church, Upsouth Missionary Baptist Church where she and her siblings started a singing group called The Pastor's Angels. In later years, Andrea became a member of Christian Cultural Center in Brooklyn NY, and United Church in Delaware where she volunteered her time caring for the children of the church.
In 2008, Andrea welcomed her most precious gift, her daughter Amani Scott-Clemons. Andrea was not just the typical doting mom, she spoiled Amani and taught her one of life’s most valuable lessons, to be kind to people. Amani naturally picked up her mom's love for dancing and singing, a bond they will forever share.
In 2016, Andrea enlisted in the Delaware Army National Guard. At basic training in Fort Jackson, SC she learned hand-to-hand combat, physical fitness, rifle marksmanship, convoy operations, land navigation and survival skills. Afterwards, she attended Advanced Individual Training (AIT) to learn the skills necessary to become a culinary specialist. Andrea's most recent duty station was at Fort Belvoir, VA. While serving in the military, Andrea also attended Wilmington University and majored in Psychology.
Leaving to cherish Andrea's memory is her daughter Amani Scott Clemons, mom Lucia Riley, aunt and legal guardian Cheryl Grace, siblings Mel, Tameeka, Jamel, Sharetta, Tabitha, Daniel, Duane, Shalonda, Antwon, best friend and sister in love Annette and a host of other family and friends.
A memorial service will be from 12:00 Noon until 2:00 P.M. Saturday, April 6, 2019 at the McCracken Funeral Home, 1500 Morris Avenue, Union, NJ 07083. Online condolences may be made via www.pippinfuneralhome.com.
