Willie Matthews Canady

Willie Matthews Canady, of Felton, went home to be with the Lord, Wednesday, January 18, 2017, in Kent General Hospital. He was 60.

      Willie was born April 1, 1956, in Virginia to the late, Lor & Sally(Jefferson) Canady. He had done maintenance work for the schools, and then spent a good number of time working in the poultry industry.

      Willie was a devout member of the New Hope Pentecostal Church, in Dover; where he  served as an usher , and sang in the choir. He loved music and dancing,

and had a very uplifting spirit. Willie also had a “green thumb” and enjoyed gardening and nurturing plants. He liked to collect cars, getting “dressed up”, and enjoyed cooking and eating.

     In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his sister, Loretta Banks.

    Willie is survived by his wife of 44 years, Mary(Harris) Canady; 4 children, Jeffrey Harris, of Felton; Dawn Harris, of Dover; JaRay Harris Canady, of Felton; and Lor Andy Harris Canady, of Felton. A brother, John Jefferson, of Milford; and 13 grandchildren & 20 great-grandchildren.

      Funeral Services will be held at 12 noon, Saturday, January 28, 2017, in New Hope Pentecostal Church, Sharon Hill Rd., Dover; where family and friends may view 2 hours before. Burial will take place at 1:00 pm, Monday, January 30, 2017, in Delaware Veterans Memorial Cemetery, Millsboro. Condolences may be sent via:
