William L. “Bill” Wade, Sr., passed away Wednesday, May 4, 2016, in the Seasons Hospice Unit at Christiana Hospital. He was 78.
Bill was born, September 15, 1937, in Manhattan, N.Y., to the Late, James & Catherine(Wachter) Wade. Bill served proudly in the United States Air Force, for 21 years, before retiring as a Master Sergeant. He later became a member of the V.F.W. and American Legion.
Bill was a devout Catholic, and a member of the Knights of Columbus, 4th Degree.
In addition to his parents, Bill was preceded in death by a sister, Patricia Chup; brother, Eric Wade, and step-brothers, Robert & Bobby Wade.
Bill is survived by his wife of 54 years, Joan Theresa(Saucier) Wade; 2 sons, Timothy Wade, and wife,Pennie, of Magnolia; and William Wade, Jr, and wife, Shannon, of Canterbury; his daughter, Wanda Clay & husband, Danny, of Dover; 5 grandchildren, Daniel Clay, Timothy, Brooke, Riley, and Aileen Wade; a sister, Helen Kim, of Jackson,NJ; step-brothers, Scott Wade, of Buffalo; Doug Wade, of Westville,NY., and Gary & Barbara Heitz, of Bloomfield,NJ; step-sisters, Maggie Wade, Tina Wade, Kelly Wade, and Helen Wade, all of New York; and Cindy & Dennis Corbett, of New Jersey.
Viewing will be held Sunday, May 8, 2016, from 2-4 and 6-8 pm, in Pippin Funeral Home, Inc., 119 West Camden-Wyoming Ave., Wyoming, DE.
Mass of Christian Burial take place, 12 noon Monday, May 9, 2016, in Holy Cross Catholic Church, 631 South State St., Dover. Burial with Full Military Honors, will follow in Odd Fellows Cemetery, Camden.
In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made in Bill’s memory to St.Judes Childrens Research Hospital, 501 St.Jude Place, Memphis, TN. 38105 or to the Ronald McDonald House of Delaware, 1901 Rockland Rd., Wilmington,DE 19803.
