Wilbur Orville Smith, age 84 of Dover, Delaware passed away December 26, 2017 after an extended illness at Kent General Hospital in Dover, Delaware.  Wilbur was born in Dover, Delaware on July 29, 1933 the son of the late William and Mildred Smith, and brother of Helen Wittle, and twin brother of William John Smith.

He was married to his devoted wife Marjorie Smith for 64 years and they were both graduates of Dover High School.  Wilbur and his brother William both served their country in the military for several years prior to beginning their careers.  Wilbur was an avid fan of the Baltimore Colts and even went to see them practice.  He also enjoyed following the Philadelphia Eagles and Phillies.  He loved boating, fishing and hanging out on the beach with his wife at their Slaughter Beach home.  He enjoyed reading especially anything about World War II.  Traveling was another hobby that took him to many National Parks, England, Scotland, Wales, France, Alaska, Hawaii and several cruises.

As a young man, Wilbur was a master carpenter which he parleyed into a successful career as a distinguished custom home builder.  He inspired sons Dave and Mark, nephew Christopher and grandsons Mike and Nick to follow in his footsteps and continue the legacy of craftsmanship in various aspects of the construction industry.

He is survived by his loving wife Marjorie, sons David (wife Carol), Mark, sister-in-law Jo Ellen Smith, grandchildren Michael, Nicholas and Brittany, many special nieces, nephews and even a great grandson Michael (M.J.).  He is preceded in death by his brother William and sister Helen.
