Stephen Andrew Brawley

April 10, 1952 ~ May 22, 2016 (age 64) 64 Years Old

Steve Brawley of Magnolia, Delaware, previously of River Vale, New Jersey, passed away on Sunday May 22, 2016, at the Delaware Hospice Center in Milford, Delaware, after a short illness.

Steve was born in New York City on April 10, 1952, to James and Evelyn (McClain) Brawley. He grew up in Westwood, New Jersey. He overcame personal adversity with patience and perseverance. He was a generous and caring son, brother, husband, and father - always ready to listen and lend a hand. His family were his pride and joy - beloved wife Maureen Black, dear daughters Kristy Black (Mike) and Tammy Black (Mark), and his cherished grandsons who called him PopPop: Stephen, Anthony, and Vincent Paino, and Joseph and Michael English.

Steve worked as floor supervisor at Staples for a number of years; but he was more oriented toward working around the house. He was a handyman and putterer, much like his maternal grandfather whom he resembled. He knew how to get the job done, measuring twice and cutting once. With loving care he worked at home inside and out – painting, carpentry, lawn care, and anything that needed done. He loved doing cross-word puzzles, fishing, teaching what he knew to the kids, watching the weather, and collecting sea glass at the ocean with his family. His style was calm, cool, and collected. Whatever was going on, Steve's outlook was, “The sky is always blue over the ocean.”

Besides Maureen and their children and grandchildren, Steve is survived by his siblings, all formerly of Westwood: sisters Mary Fuat, Loretta (Mark) O'Meara, Veronica (Patrick) Burman, Ann Greve, Catherine Brawley, Frances Losonsky (Liam), Pamela (Robert) Trottier, and brothers Robert (Debra), Thomas, Christopher (Bonnie), and Matthew (Deb). His dear nephew David (Courtney) Brawley who is working overseas, and all Steve's nephews and nieces and their children, will miss his loving ways and his caring presence.

Steve was predeceased by his beloved parents, his sister Jennifer, and brother Richard.
