Stephanie Renee Kehler

Stephanie Renee Kehler, of Frederica, went home to be with the Lord, on November 28, 2016, surrounded by her loving family. Stephanie was born on January 23, 1967 in Milford, Delaware. She was 49 years old. She was preceded in death by her grandparents, William and Pearl Schmick; and William Macklin.

Stephanie attended Lake Forest High School, Class of 1986. At the age of 18, she joined the Frederica Volunteer Fire Company, Ladies Auxiliary, where she remained actively involved for 31 years, until her passing.  She enjoyed cooking, whether it was for 5 or 500 people, and participated in all of the Station’s special events, including Quarters Auctions, Sub Sales, Crab Fests, and Bingo. She currently held the Auxiliary’s Office of Secretary.

She was employed as a Child Nutrition Specialist at Benjamin Banneker Elementary School, and was known to the kids as “Super Lunch Lady”. Working at the school was more than a job for her; she took pride knowing that her kids would have healthy and nutritious meals throughout the day.   

Stephanie had a take-charge personality, and a heart of gold, stepping in to help with whatever needed to be done. Her favorite task was taxiing the kids to games, the rink, or other activities.  She was a diehard Eagles Fan and would cheer them on regardless which team was winning.  She cherished her family and enjoyed time spent with them. Above all, Stephanie will be remembered as an amazing, Mom, G-mom, and Godmother, a loving wife and daughter, a caring sibling, and true friend. 

Stephanie is survived by her husband, Hank; children, Danielle (Angel), and Melissa (Aaron); granddaughter, Izabella; parents Al and Virginia Schmick; sister, Lynette Cubbage (Robert); sister by choice, Traci Lyn Stanley (Jeff); godchildren, Jecilyn and Treavor; grandmother, Bertha Macklin; her special Uncle, Bill Macklin (Rita); Aunt, Carol Gauker (Ed); Aunt, Linda Gaudet; several cousins; her former students and fire service family; and a large circle of friends.

A Celebration of Life will be held 3:00 pm on Sunday, December 4, 2016, at Pippin Funeral Home. Friends may view two hours prior.

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions in Stephanie's honor can be made to the Ladies Auxiliary of Frederica Volunteer Fire Company, Station 49, 6 Front Street, P.O. Box 283 Frederica, DE 19946
