SFC Mark Weaver, Jr. Obituary

SFC Mark Timothy Weaver, Jr. age 44 of  Columbia, South Carolina suddenly passed away January 22, 2018 at Kent General Hospital in Dover, Delaware.  Mark was born October 26, 1973 in Charleston, South Carolina, the son of Mark “Tim” and Joan Weaver.

Mark graduated from Irmo High School and enlisted in the United States Marine Corps.  After his honorable discharge from the Marines, he completed his education at the University of South Carolina in Columbia.  He enlisted in the United States Army and served in the Iraq War and Operation New Dawn in Djibouti.  He was very proud, and reminded all who would listen, that he obtained the distinction of “Senior Rated Jump Master.” His military career afforded him the opportunity to travel the globe and see the world.

He accomplished much in his career but nothing he saw or did could overshadow being father to his “red headed angel from heaven,”  Mary Carter Weaver.  He and Mary Carter were inseparable, playing pranks on each other, family members and, on occasion, elementary school administrators.

Mark had a big heart and lived life to its fullest.  Although only a short time here, he left this life in a blaze of glory.  He jumped out of  perfectly good airplanes, drove fast cars and flirted with pretty girls (of course until he met his best friend and now wife, Jessica Tillinghast).  He will certainly give heaven a run for its’ money.

In his free time Mark enjoyed gaming, writing, and comic books.  He was a fan of science fiction, G.I. Joe, and he was a “master builder” of Legos.

Mark is survived by his wife of almost 8 years, Jessica; daughter, Mary Carter; parents, Tim & Joan;  brother, Daniel (Elizabeth); sister Mary Beth (Matthew) Corey; his wife’s parents, John & Candace Tillinghast; nieces, Hadley & Camilla; nephews, Evan, Flynt & Chase; his brother-in-laws, John (Nichole), Adam & Michael; many aunts, uncles, extended family, friends and fellow service members.
