Robert Earl West, 89, of Camden passed away peacefully at home on October 12, 2016 with his loving wife of 59 years by his side.
Robert was born on August 1, 1927 in New Britain, PA to the late Dorothy and Earl West. He joined the U.S. Navy after graduating high school. After a year in the Navy, he worked with his father in the well drilling business. He then married and settled in Danboro, PA where they built their own home. From there he moved on to work with the United States Postal Service, where he served for 28 years. He enjoyed spending time with family, traveling the U.S. and vacationing in Virginia Beach and Florida. He was a fan of the Philadelphia Phillies and the Philadelphia Eagles.
The family would like to thank Seasons Hospice and their friends and neighbors for their help and support.
Besides his parents, he will join in Heaven his sister Norma Shaw, his in laws John and Theresa Marr; other family members Grace and Zanzibar Ruggiero and Phillip Marr.
Mr. West is survived by his wife, Theresa; two daughters, Kathleen Strawn (Will Hoppe) and Karen Bleam (Jim); one brother, Bruce (Audrey); his sister in law Assunta Gellock; his brother in law Jack Shaw; two grandchildren, Bryan Strawn (Joanne) and Jennifer Asbury (Nate); six precious great grandchildren and many nieces and nephews.
A memorial service will be 2:00 P.M. Saturday, October 22, 2016 at the Pipppin Funeral Home, 119 W. Camden Wyoming Avenue, Wyoming, DE 19934 where there will be a visitation from 1:30 until 2:00 Saturday. Burial will be private. In lieu of flowers, the family suggests memorial contributions be made to American Heart Association, 200 Continental Drive, Suite #101, Newark, DE 19713 or to American Lung Association of DE, 422 S.
