Welcome to the memorial page for

Raymond Eugene Bare

September 10, 1938 ~ January 3, 2018 (age 79) 79 Years Old

Raymond Eugene Bare of Hartly, DE passed away on Wednesday, January 3rd, 2018 in the comfort of his home. He was 79. Raymond was born in West Virginia on September 10th, 1938.
After serving in the military, Raymond lived in Texas and Chicago, IL before settling in Virginia where he worked in the seafood department at Giant grocery store for 15 years. He then retired and moved to Delaware before going back to work for the same company in Middletown for several more years. He always proudly wore his West Virginia attire from his birthplace. His step granddaughter, Peggy, started his nickname "Ray-Ray" and it stuck throughout the rest of his life, even on his name tag at work. His favorite pastime was watching baseball, and he always rooted for the Chicago Cubs. He never skipped his two peanut butter and banana sandwiches on wheat for lunch, which he said his mother had made for him daily since grade school. He could often be heard singing "Shaboom, Shaboom" even though he never knew any of the lyrics to the rest of the song.
Raymond was proceeded in death by his parents, Robert and Mary Louise Bare, and his baby brother, Kenneth Bare. He is survived by his wife of 21 years, Marie Bare; daughter Sharon Lynn Bare, grandson David Kevin Riggs II, granddaughter Kristana (Krissy) Lynn Butz; Sister Francis and her husband Paul Muehlmann; niece Laura and her husband Matt Guest, and their children Curtis, Megan and Austin. Also his wife's three daughters, Pam, and husband David Carlisle; Trisha, and husband Charlie Eller; Sue, and husband Donnie Lowman; 9 step grandchildren and 11 step great grandchildren.
