I got to know Mark while he was working for the the state of Delaware. His spirit and bravery throughout his fight with the disease that took him, but never defeated him, was an example to me and those who had the privilege to know him. I wish his family belated condolences.

Mark got a MA in Philosophy from SJSU and I was privileged to be his thesis advisor. He was a wonderful student and teacher whose passion about diversity was apparent in everything he did. We stayed in touch over the years and I had the good fortune to read many of the thoughtful essays and work projects that he wrote. I was diagnosed with metastatic melanoma 2 years ago and Mark was my rock as I reeled from the news. He was my model of how to live with this diagnosis and I am forever grateful to him for always being there for me. I will miss him terribly.

I had the honor and privilege of working with Mark at the State of Delaware over the years.
Mark was a true advocate for people with disabilities, a subject matter expert, and an absolute joy and pleasure to have known. He always had a smile on his face and a positive attitude. He shared many interesting and enlightening stories. He could always make a room or an individual smile. He showed such love when talking about his family. He will be missed by all. I am sending my condolences to his family and friends. He was respected and loved by so many, and I will always remember him with great fondness. He made the world a better place.

Greetings Family & Friends, I had the pleasure of knowing and working with Mark in DHSS for about ten years. I respected him and appreciated his knowledge and expertise. He gave me very wise counsel over the years. Mark was a fighter and he fought the good fight. I tear up as I write this, not for Mark, because he has gone on to reap his reward. I tear up when I think of how much he still had to offer to the land of the living. Family, with heartfelt sympathy, be blessed and I will keep you in prayer! Zel Cannon, Retired and Former DMS Deputy Director.

I had the pleasure of working with Mark several times over the years. Mark was instrumental in creating the online course "Focus on Ability" and a course “Hiring and Retaining People with Disabilities”. These courses were part of former Governor Markell's initiative to Improve Employment Opportunities for People with Disabilities. Mark brought insight and laughter to any discussion and was a true advocate. He will be missed by the Statewide Training and Organizational Development team and all of the employees he helped throughout his career.

Warmest condolences to the family of Mark Monroe.
I taught classes with Mark for the State of Delaware, and he was a joy to work with. He had that rare combination of subject-matter knowledge and the ability to present the information in a way that was both understandable and enjoyable. His students loved and respected him and I will sorely miss working with him.
