Marion Stinson (Fish) Newell

Marion Stinson Fish Newell died peacefully in the presence of her three children on Tuesday, January 24, 2017 in Dover, Delaware after a long illness.

Marion was born March 13, 1939 and was raised in Winchester, Massachusetts. She was a 1957 graduate of Winchester high School and a 1959 graduate of Katharine Gibbs College in Boston. In 1966, she moved to West Chester, PA and there raised her three children with Jack Newell.

She was an active volunteer with school and church organizations, the Girl Scouts, and a member of Holy Trinity Church. She enjoyed bowling and gardening. In 1988, she graduated from West Chester University with a degree in Secondary Education and Social Studies. She taught in the West Chester Area School District and worked with Human Services in Downingtown, PA. In 1995, she moved to Dover, DE and worked for Sears. She retired in 2002. In Dover, she was active in the Quilt Guild and Garden Club and shared her talents. She also cared for her grandchildren and her many friends. The family is deeply grateful for all of the friends, neighbors and caregivers who supported Marion in her final years of her life.

Marion is pre-deceased by her parents, Charles Richard Fish & Louise Elizabeth Stinson of Winchester, MA. She was married to, Jack Claflin Newell. She is survived by her loving sisters, Martha Moore of Yuma, Arizona and Emily Smith of Bend, Oregon and their families. She leaves behind her children, Jacqueline Newell & Steve Smith of Takoma Park, MD, Wendy Newell & Troy Windham of Dover, DE and Jonathan & Liz Newell of Langhorne. PA and eight grandchildren, Zachary, Charlotte, and Liam Smith: Jack and Allison Windham; Ethan, Isaac, and Lylah Newell.

A gathering for family and friends to celebrate Marion's life will be from 10-11:00 a.m., Saturday, January 28, 2017 at Pippin Funeral Home, 119 West Camden-Wyoming Avenue, Wyoming, Delaware.  A memorial service will follow at 11:00 a.m.  The family invites you to join them for a reception at the home of Wendy Newell & Troy Windham, following the memorial service.
