Marie K. Smith

After courageously battling a lengthy illness, Marie K. Smith, of Clayton passed away on Wednesday, June 15, 2016 surrounded by her family.  She was 67 years old.  Marie was born on February 21, 1949, in Orange, NJ to the late Charles and Genevieve Salinardi.  She was also preceded in death by her daughter, Veronica Marie.

Affectionately called “Nonna”, Marie was devoted to her family and cherished spending time with them.  She attended all of her son’s football games, and actively supported the Wesley College football team, selling merchandise at all of their home games.  For many years, she worked in retail, and enjoyed interacting with her customers.  She liked to cook, bake, and crochet, but mostly loved shopping the outlets and “spoiling” her grandchildren. 

Marie is survived by her loving husband, Joseph of 45 years.  She also leaves behind her son Thomas, and his wife, Anna Maria; grandchildren, Alexander, Ameila, and Nicholas; sister, Ginger and her husband Drew Salisbury, of Southbury, CT; and many nieces and nephews.

A Viewing will be held from 6:00 to 8:00 p.m. on Monday, June 20, 2016 at Pippin Funeral Home, 119 West Camden Wyoming Ave. Wyoming, DE. 19934.  Funeral Service will be held at 12:00 noon on Tuesday, June 21, 2016, at Pippin Funeral Home, where friends may call one hour prior.  Committal Services will follow at Holy Cross Cemetery, Dover.
