Lilton Trower, Jr. was born to the late Ruth and Lilton Trower, Sr. in Franktown, Virginia on October 10, 1936. He was called to his resting place Tuesday February 27, 2018 at Delaware Hospice Center in Milford, Delaware.
Lilton attended Northampton County Schools. In 1957, he married Emma Jane Upshur with whom he shared a fulfilling union for more than 60 years. In 1966, he moved his family to Dover, Delaware where he was gainfully employed as a long distance truck driver for his entire career.
While in Virginia, he was a member of Bethel Baptist Church in Franktown, Virginia. After relocating to Delaware, he became a member of New Jerusalem Baptist Church in the late 1970’s. He served faithfully as a trustee and deacon until his health failed.
June, as he was lovingly called, enjoyed talking on his CB where his handle was Ham Bone 9121. He was a self-taught auto mechanic to many family and friends. No car was turned down. He was a great comedian and had a ready nickname for children, grandchildren and anybody who walked through his front door.
Lilton was preceded in death by his parents, Ruth and Lilton, Sr.; two brothers, James and Thomas Trower; and one sister, Clara Ann White. He leaves to cherish his memories: his wife, Emma Jane; two sons, James (Althea) and Thomas Trower; five daughters: Patricia (Houston) Burris, Paulette Trower, Dianna Beulah, Suzette (Edward) Burris and Kim (Mark) Cooper; seventeen grandchildren; thirty nine great grandchildren; and two great great grandchildren; one brother Charles (Carolyn) Trower; one sister, India Trower; four sisters-in-law; two brothers-in-law; and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.
