     Lillie Bertha Groves Whaley, 90, daughter of the late Jeremiah & Bertha Groves passed away peacefully surrounded by her loving family on Tuesday August 8, 2017.

     Mrs. Whaley was preceded in death by her parents Jeremiah & Bertha Groves, husband Alton Whaley (Bud), siblings: Magolda, Pauline, Henry, Walter, Ralph, Josephine, Marietta, Mable, Mary Emily & Jeremiah, daughter Sheila Batson-Lang and grandchildren: LaSheena, Michael, Shanna, Stacey and Tracey.

     Lillie gave her life to the Lord at an early age.  She was a member of Bethel A.M.E. Church in Milford and a former member of Wesley Chapel UM Church in Slaughter Neck, DE.  Lillie was a factory worker for many years before retiring to help care for her grandchildren.

     Lillie is survived by 3 daughters & 3 sons: Sandi Watson (Charles) Frederica, DE, Blanche Hall (Granville), Milton, DE, Marneeta Akins (Jeffrey), Harrington, DE, Alton Whaley, Jr., Milton, DE, Jeremiah Whaley (Paulette), West Chester, PA & Camuel Whaley, Milton, DE; 16 grandchildren, 23 great grandchildren & 7 great great grandchildren

     Funeral services will be Saturday, August 12, 2017 at 12 Noon at Bethel AME Church, 205 NW 4th Street, Milford, DE where there will be a viewing from 10 am to 12 pm.  Burial will follow in Old Hickory Cemetery, Lincoln/Slaughter Neck, DE.  The family would like to extend a sincere thank you to the entire staff of Milford Manor Nursing Home for the care and love shown to our mother.
