Lewis Wells of Dover, Delaware, passed away Sunday, May 28, 2017 at Kent General Hospital.

Mr. Wells was born on April 6, 1935 in Newburn, Alabama.  He was the son of the late Eddie and Adelaide Wells.

Lewis proudly served in the Navy and had a successful career in agriculture.  He was a member of Capital Baptist Church.  He enjoyed listening to Christian music and watching Western movies, the news and sports.  Mr. Wells was a Pittsburgh Steelers fan.

He is survived by his first wife Christina Wells followed by his beloved wife of thirty-five years, Marie E. Wells; three brothers Johnnie and wife Oriel Wells, Henry and Lorenzo Wells; two sisters Rose Hines and Mary Jones; his son Anthony Hill, two daughters Patricia Hill and Demeka Oliver; three step sons Glenn Harris and wife  Julia, James Nelson and Bruce Harris; three stepdaughters, Josephine and James Tatman, Dolores and  Larry Burris and Maggie and Leo Hackett; as well as a host of nieces , nephews, grandchildren and great grandchildren.

Mr. Wells is preceded in death by three brothers, author Leo Wells, Napolean Wells and Eddie Wells, Jr.; his sister Lucy Young, as well as Christina and Glenzie Bell, Stonewall Nelson and Sylvia Harris, whom all shared a part of his heart throughout his life.

While our hearts are burdened we are all thankful for the nursing staff, C.N.A.’s and caregivers that share his loving heart with us.  God makes no mistakes and as He sustains us during our grief we pray for strength to accept the fact that God’s will must be done on earth as it is in heaven; and our hearts say, “Amen!’

Funeral Service Thursday, June 8, 2017, 11 am at Pippin Funeral Home, 119 W. Camden-Wyoming Avenue, Wyoming, DE.  The Reverend Terri H. Moore, officiating.  Friends may call 1 hour prior to the service.  Interment Baratt's Chapel Cemetery, Frederica, DE.
