     Lawrence Alan Rose, of Dover, passed away Tuesday, October 17, 2017, in his home, surrounded by his loving family. He was 79.

     Larry served proudly in the United States Air Force for over 25 years, then continued working in Civil Service on the Dover Air Force Base for 20 years, before concluding his career as the Director of Manpower at the Pentagon; where he was working during the 9-11 Attack.

     He was a very active man who never sat still. Larry liked doing research on the computer; enjoyed traveling with his family, especially going to Daytonna, Fl ; going to amusement parks and riding roller coasters; flying airplanes and going to airshows; going to the movies, and going out to eat. He was the President of the Dover High School Football Boosters during the 1980’s; and also served as President of the Midnight Sundowners.

    Larry was preceded in death by his parents, Richard Rose & Mary Joseph; his foster parents, Alfreda L. Turner Littleton & Homer K, Turner; his sister, Jane Wertz; and foster sister, Brenda L. Irwin Crislip.

   He is survived by his wife of 55 years, Ruth ( Fox) Rose;  2 children, Robert A. Rose, of Delmar and Ronald D. Rose & wife, Elizabeth, of Collegeville, PA.; 3 sisters, Marcia Benezet, of Philadelphia; Hazel Hayes, of Fresno, CA. and Barbara A. Miller, of PA; 2 brothers, Daniel Joseph & Stephen Rose, both of PA.; 2 grandchildren, Tereasa C. Rose and Keith M. Rose; a great-granddaughter, Kyleen T. Harrison; 2 god-children, Kathleen Herrmann, of Maryland; and Deborah Jacobs, of St. Georges; as well as numerous nieces & nephews.

   Funeral Services will take place at 12 noon, Wednesday, October 25, 2017, in Pippin Funeral Home, Inc., 119 West Camden-Wyoming Ave., Wyoming, DE; where family and friends may gather 1 hour before. Burial will follow with Full Military Honors, in the Delaware Veterans Memorial Cemetery, Bear, DE.
