Lawrence “Larry” Leonard Rodan, Sr., of Bridgeville, passed away Saturday, June 10, 2017 in the Delaware Hospice Center, Milford, DE after an unexpected illness. He was born November 6, 1942, in Millville, N.J to the late, Lemuel C Rodan & Gertrude Louise(Scales) Rodan.

   In addition to his parents, Larry was preceded in death by Two Grandsons, David Lee Rodan and Michael Forshey Rodan.

   Larry is survived by his loving wife of 17 years, Linda Kay(Hatfield) Rodan; a sister, Hannah Chamberlain(JB), of Paris, KY; 5 children, Lawrence L. Rodan, Jr(Kimmy), of Sanford, N.C.; James Rodan(Patty), of Bridgeville, DE ; Jeanette Seitz(Cliff), of Dover; Pam Rodan(Shawn Miller), of Felton; and Roger Foster(Tonya), of Louisville, KY. ; his grandchildren, Robert Jones, Jean Marie Carlisle, Todd Rodan, Beth Tucker, Mindy Knotts, Harley Rodan, Tre Forshey, Steven Rodan, Jessica Forshey, Austin Rodan ,Graham Johnson,Stephanie Nelson, and Jennifer Seitz;  as well as 13   great-grandchildren and numerous nieces & nephews.

    Larry was a graduate of John Bassett Moore Smyrna High School, Class of 1962.He received his Associate Degree from Delaware Tech in 1987, and Graduated from Wilmington College with a BA in Accounting in 1989. He was a member of the National Honor Society.  Larry had enlisted in the United States Navy, but was given a medical discharge.

He had owned 3 Service Stations and Larry’s Towing in the 1970’s. He was also a leased owner/operator truck driver for Trimac Transportation and Trailer Convoys, where he retired from in 2011. He drove trucks across 48 states, Canada & Mexico, and was a member of OOIDA.

    Larry(K4LLR, formerly KA3MIY) enjoyed collecting ham radios, and was an active member of several organizations including: The Amateur Radio Transmitting Society, W4CN, where he was a board member for 2 years. The Bullitt(KY) Amateur Radio Society, KY4KY; the Kentucky DX Association KY4XX; and was a committee member for the Greater Louisville Hamfest. He was a past member and past President of the Kent County(DE) Amateur Radio Club, and was the clubs first Hamfest Coordinator. He is fondly remembered  as an active member who loved to participate in field day events, and still had many friends there.

    Larry also enjoyed Bluegrass Music, and was twice a D.J. for WDSD, in Dover, DE.

His other hobbies included watching NASCAR, Detective Television, feeding the birds, and squirrels; and spending time with his dog Buster, and 2 cats, Wolfie & Tora.

   A Memorial Service will be planned at a later date. In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to the Delaware Hospice Center, 100 Patriots Way, Milford, DE 19963.
