Kathleen Martel “Kay” died peacefully in her home on March 24, 2017 in Dover, DE at the age of 81. Kay is survived by her loving husband, Walter “Marty”; her devoted children, Karl Martel (Michele), Cindy Tobiason (Bruce); Grandchildren, Stephanie Martel, Brian Martel (Michelle), Sarah Korch, Skyler Warren; Great Grandchildren, Tessa, Michaela, Triston, Chase, Keegan, and Quinn; and siblings, Elizabeth Watson and JoAnn Chapman.

Kay was born on December 30, 1935 in Georgetown Massachusetts to Karl and Ora Watson. After being stationed with her husband in various places including Texas, Alaska, and New Jersey; In 1968, Kay and her husband settled in Dover with their two children. Kay worked in the school cafeteria for the Caesar Rodney school district where her children attended school. Once her children were grown, Kay began working as a secretary for her son Karl’s automotive repair business. Kay worked for Martel’s Foreign Car for 26 years.

Kay enjoyed genealogy, photography, and spending time with her family. Never one to be without her camera, Kay always made sure to take lots of pictures. She was a kind and generous individual who loved her family and spoiling them with her brownies.

A memorial service is scheduled for Tuesday, March 28 at Pippin Funeral Home, 119 W. Camden-Wyoming Ave., Wyoming. beginning at 6pm. All are welcome to attend and celebrate Kay’s life.
