Joyce N. Torres was born on August 23, 1944 to the late Joseph T. & Ardessa M. Warren.
Joyce attended Paul Lawrence Dunbar Elementary School in Wyoming, Delaware, Booker T. Washington Jr. High School in Dover, Delaware and William Henry High School also in Dover, Delaware. She later earned her diploma through the James H. Groves High School. After high school Joyce received her nursing degree at Delaware Technical and Community College, Terry Campus 2011-2012.
Joyce was employed by Silver Lake Nursing Home for several years. She later became an employee of Christiana Care and worked for them for approximately 17 years. Joyce was a devoted worker and always took her job seriously. She loved and cared her patients and clients treating them like members of her family.
Joyce loved the Lord and was a devoted woman of God. Not being ashamed of her faith, Joyce took Jesus Christ with her wherever she went.
She loved her family and there was nothing that she would not do for them.
She was diagnosed with illness five years ago and never complained, never expressed self pity, nor did you ever hear her say, “God why me?” She continued to praise the Lord daily through all the pain and suffering. She kept a smile on her face as long as she could. When God said her time on earth was over, she quietly and peacefully slipped away.
She leaves to cherish the memory her children, Kenneth, Carrroll Leroy, Diane, her special and one and only daughter, Ulyssses and Christopher; 15 grand children; 26 great grandchildren, 4 brothers: Joseph Warren, Jr., Charles Warren (Gayle), Jerry Warren and Marine Warren; 3 sisters, Ardessa Deputy (Albert), Clemente Knighton (Charlie), & Rose Carter (Garth); a host of nieces and nephews; and one aunt, Naomi Lyons of Philadelphia, PA. Joyce is preceded in death by two brothers, Wilson Warren & Herschall Warren and 2 sisters, Thelma Baynard & Mildred Caldwell.
