John E. Laurent, 67, of Milford, Delaware passed away on Thursday, September 22, 2016, at Milford Memorial Hospital.  Mr. Laurent was born in Charleston, West Virginia on October 25, 1948, the son of the late Eugene Victor and Mildred Kathleen Laurent.  He is survived by his twin brother, Richard Eugene Laurent, of Clarksburg, WV., and cousins, Rebecca J. Orr Benner, of Severna Park, MD., Steven K. Orr, of Glenrock, PA., Janice M. Kinnan Serote, of La Crescenta, CA., Ryan S. Serote, of Burke, VA., Julie C. Serote Gibson, of West Linn, OR., Jerry L. Kinnan, of Manhattan Beach, CA.

John was a 1966 graduate of Charleston High School.  Upon graduation, he accepted a position with the FBI as Fingerprint Examiner at the Identification Division in Washington D.C.  That service was broken with four years Military Service in the United States Air Force, with assignments at Yakota AFB, Japan, and Andrews AFB, MD, in their computer sections.   John was a graduate of Anne Arundel Community College with a two year Associate Degree in Business Management and was employed by various Federal, State, and Commercial/Private Businesses as follows: G.S.A., Federal Home Loan Bank Board; U.S. Treasury, Oklahoma State Bureau, Kiplinger Editor/Press, Assistant Recruiting Officer for New Candidates to the Naval Academy, and Tour Guide of Surrounding Grounds, with Assistant Managing of Armel-Leftwich Visitor Center and Bachelor Officer Quarters, with additional Retail Management Positions with Boscov’s Dept. Store, Southland Corp., Dart Driver, Cape May/Lewes Ferry Terminal Building and Transport Ship Gift Shop.  He also assisted Milford Police Department with fingerprinting and home security patrol.  He attended Naval Academy Church Services, and was a member of The Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints Church.

With special thanks to the caring and loving staff at the Veterans Memorial Nursing Home, and Kidney Dialysis Unit, both of Milford; and along with the staff of Harrison House, Georgetown, and In Home Care Nurse Teresa Davis.

Committal Services with Military Honors will be held at 11:00 am on Friday, October 21, 2016, at the Delaware Veterans Memorial Cemetery, 26669 Patriots Way, Millsboro, Delaware 19966.
