Jean D. (Glinski) Rogers

Jean D. Rogers, age 86, passed away February 7, 2017 in Dover, DE.  Jean was born June 12, 1930 in Buffalo, NY, the daughter of Louis and Helen Glinski. She received her undergraduate and graduate degrees in English from Buffalo State Teachers College.  She taught in several Buffalo area schools before moving to Tampa where she worked as an adjunct professor at Hillsborough Community College.   Before retiring, she also taught in the Lee County School System. She enjoyed reading, especially poetry, and was an avid learner and was known for her wit and sense of humor.  She especially enjoyed spending time with her grandchildren and the time she spent living in Germany.  She was proud of her Polish roots and in her faith was drawn to images of Our Lady of Czestochowa (The Black Madonna with the Infant Jesus)

She was predeceased by her parents, her sister Dorothy Troiano, and her former husband Harvey Rogers.  She is survived by her daughter Ellen Parks (Michael), her niece Cathy Breen (Michael), great nephews Michael and Andrew Breen, her grandson Colin Parks (Marissa), granddaughter Lauren Endicott (Sean), granddaughter Sarah Parks (fiancé Charles Schmidt), great-grandchildren Dillon and Liam Endicott, and Genevieve and Cordelia Parks.

The viewing will be Thursday, February 16, 2017 from 6-8 pm with a Vigil Service at Pippin Funeral Home, 119 W. Camden-Wyoming Ave., Wyoming, DE.  A funeral Mass will be celebrated Friday, February 17, 2017, 10 am at Holy Cross Catholic Church, 631 S. State Street, Dover, DE.

Interment will be at Holy Cross Cemetery, Dover, DE.  Memorials may be made to the Alzheimer’s Association.
