Welcome to the memorial page for

Janice Marie (White) Brown

April 8, 1953 ~ July 18, 2017 (age 64) 64 Years Old

Sister Janice Marie Brown was the oldest of seven siblings born April 8, 1953 in Norfolk, VA to the late Thelma Lee and Norris E. Williams.  She was married to the late Carlton H. Brown, Sr. and from that union they were blessed with two sons.  She departed this life at the tender age of 64 on July 18, 2017 and is now resting in the arms of Jesus.

Janice lived an eventful life and was a joy to be around.  She lived her life to the fullest and had a passion for giving and raising her sons.  She loved cooking, seek and find puzzles, interior decorating, shopping and coordinating.  She also was an avid sports fan from professional sports to her sons’ Pop Warner leagues.  At times, she would directly insert herself into the game where you would see her running down the sidelines to cheer her sons on.  Even more so, one of her greatest joys was spending time with her four grandchildren and great-grandchild.

Janice and her late mother were the Queens of “Diva”ness.  They should have established a website Diva.com.

Janice was educated in the Norfolk School District and traveled extensively with her husband while he served in the United States Air Force.  She volunteered at various schools in the Capital School District.  Janice received a prestigious award from Governor Tom Carper for her volunteer service.

Janice accepted the Lord Jesus Christ as her personal savior at an early age.  She was previously a member of Faith, Hope and Love and at her death she was a member of Calvary Baptist Church.  She was a participant in the Chalcedony Jewel Group, and representative within the Richard M. Avant Foundation and the Midnight Outreach Ministry.

Janice was preceded in death by the love of her life, her husband, Carlton H. Brown, Sr.; her mother, Thelma Lee Williams and one brother, Ondre Williams.  She leaves her two sons to cherish her memory, Carlton H. Brown, Jr. (Kimberly) of Magnolia, DE; Demetrius O. Brown (LaToya) of Bonaire, GA; four grandchildren: Marquis, Mashea-Jasmine, Janeyce, and Dondre; one great grandchild, Cheyenne-Arielle; one aunt-sister Dorothy (Diddy) Johnson of Winder, GA; five siblings: Reginald Williams (Alesia) of Dover, DE, Tony Williams (Michelle) of Norfolk, VA, Sabina Whetsell (Henry) of Summerville, SC, Darrell Williams (Jackie) of Dover, DE and Gordon Williams (Yvonne) of Norfolk, VA along with a host of aunts, nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.

A funeral service will be 10:00 A.M. Monday, July 24, 2017 at Calvary Baptist Church, 163 Victory Chapel Road, Dover, DE 19904 where there will be a viewing from 9:00 to 10:00 A.M.
