Ivy M Caniford

    Ivy May Caniford of Dover passed away Wednesday January 18, 2017.  She was 91.

     Ivy was born February 6, 1925 in London, England. She married a U.S. Air Force serviceman and moved to the United States in 1950, first living in Massachusetts.  She moved to Dover in 1955 where she lived for the remainder of her life.  She was employed for over 40 years at Capital Cleaners where she met and became friends with many people from all walks of life.  Ivy was a person who lived life to its’ fullest.  Every day of her life she would be well dressed, with jewelry on, before she even came out of her bedroom.  She had plans for every day of her life.  She loved to travel, play the slot machines, but her favorite thing to do was sunbathing at Rehoboth Beach.  Ivy was a kind, caring and loving person who was always surrounded by her friends and family.  She will be missed by all who knew her.

     In addition to her husbands, she was preceded in death by her parents, Bert and Christiana Collier, her sister Lillian Heath and her brother Leslie Collier.  She is survived by her daughters, Jacqueline Zisterer and Karen Zisterer Bowden; her granddaughter Teresa Bowden Edge, two great grandchildren and several nieces and nephews.  She is also survived by her dearest and best friend for over 50 years, Barbara Miller of Dover.
