Hassie M. Payton stepped gently into the arms of her Savior with her loving husband and family at her side on Tuesday, March 14, 2017. She was 69.
A lady of strong faith dedicated most of her life as a homemaker and later in life worked with her husband as caretakers for Barratt’s Chapel Cemetery, Frederica.
Hassie enjoyed the sport of archery, gardening and most of all spending time with her children and grandchildren.
She is survived by her husband of 53 years, Jack C. Payton, Sr., three sons Jack C. Payton, Jr. (Cheryl) of Harrington, Brian Payton (Shannon) of Clayton, Heath Payton (Ronda) of Frederica, and a daughter Tammy Humphrey (Craig) of Marydel, two sisters Diane Payton (Harry) of Mobile, AL, and Janet Yerkie (Eddie) of Magnolia, 22 grandchildren and 14 great grandchildren.
Service will be 12 noon, Monday, March 20, 2017, at the Faith Baptist Church, 1575 Bryn Zion Road, Smyrna, DE 19977, where viewing will start at 11:00 a.m. Burial will follow in Barratt’s Chapel Cemetery, Frederica.
In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations to the Faith Baptist Church.
