Harry E. (Neuty) Reed, 87, of Magnolia, passed away Friday, April 21, 2017 at Kent General Hospital. He was born on October 3, 1929, son of James K. and Cora Reed. Neuty graduated from Caesar Rodney High School and was the last surviving male member of the class of 1947.
He started working at Sears and Roebuck out of high school, then he and his father formed Reed’s Delivery Service.
Neuty was a member of the Del-Vets, former member of the Camden Wyoming Lions Club and a life-time member of the Magnolia Fire Company, 67 years. He was a member of the Delaware National Guard for 10 years.
He is survived by his loving family: wife Janet of 64 and ½ years, daughters, Patti Baker (Mike), Suzanne Thomas (ML), 2 granddaughters, Amanda Brown (Adam), Courtney Baker (Brendan) and his first great grandson, due in July who will be named for him. He is also survived by a brother Ronald Reed (Gail), sister-in-law Katherine Shumar and many nieces and nephews.
Services will be held Tuesday, April 25 at Pippin Funeral Home, 119 West Camden Wyoming Ave, Wyoming. Visitation will begin at 11 am, funeral to follow at 12 pm. Burial will be at Barratt’s Chapel Cemetery, Frederica.
In lieu of flowers, family requests donations to Magnolia Methodist Church, 39 Main Street Magnolia or Magnolia Volunteer Fire Company, 2 N. Main St, Magnolia.
