Grace C. Jackson was born on January 17, 1932 in Slaughter Neck, Delaware to the late Roscoe W. Crapper and Helen Crapper Nichols.
Grace departed this life after a brief illness on August 30, 2015 at Harbor Healthcare in Lewes, Delaware. She was 83 years old.
She received her education at Slaughter Neck, Bannkers Elementary and graduated from Delaware State College (University) in 1954 with a bachelor of science degree in home economics. She substituted in various schools in Delaware before returning to Delaware State College to receive a bachelor degree in elementary education. She began her teaching career in the Lewes Special School District, which is now the Cape Henlopen School District. In later years, she was employed with the Milford School District. She retired from the Milford School District.
Grace was married to the late Rev. R. Augustine Jackson. She was a faithful member of the Mt. Zion AME Church in Ellendale, Delaware. She accepted Jesus Christ as her personal Savior at an early age. She loved church. Grace loved her family. She loved people. She was encouraging, loving, kind, compassionate, giving and serving. She met no strangers. She’d even ask, “who are you?” And hats... She loved her hats! She dressed like a queen.
She loved her family, her devoted nephew and care taker, Paul E. Wilmer, Jr., a special friend Donna S. Anstine (East New Marker, MD). She leaves to cherish her memories, Rev. Robert A. Jackson, Jr., Moninya D. Jackson, Robert A. Jackson, III, Malachi D. Jackson, and Ramir A. Jackson of Princeton, NJ, one sister, Gloria Scott, Milford, DE, one aunt, Violetta Zachary, in laws Carl Leonard, Ferris Young, all of Slaughter Neck, DE, and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.
Funeral Services will be held 7 pm, Thursday, September 3, 2015, in Pippin Funeral Home, Inc., 119 West Camden-Wyoming Ave. Wyoming, DE; where family and friends may view from 5 to 7 pm. Burial will take place 10 am, Friday, in Old Hickory Cemetery, Slaughter Neck.
