Dorothy P Evans

     Dorothy P. Evans, 92, passed away on March 15, 2018.

     Dorothy P. Evans was born October 15, 1925 in Wyoming, Delaware to the late Roy and Mildred Sudler.  Mrs. Evans was educated in the Dover Public School System.  She was married to the late Preston Evans, Sr. She was one of the first black employees hired to work at the Delaware Department of Motor Vehicle and the Department of Treasury.  Mrs. Evans worked at Dover Air Force Base for many years as an IBM operator.  She also worked for Delaware Trust Bank as a bank teller.

     Mrs. Evans was baptized on September 17, 1939 at Bethel Seventh Day Adventist Church in Dover.  She was a faithful and active church member there for many years.  She loved public speaking.  Mrs. Evans loved her family.

     She was preceded in death by her husband, Preston Evans, Sr., son Preston Evans, Jr., and sister Doris Backus.  Mrs. Evans is survived by her brother Orville (Ruth) Sudler of Wyoming, DE ; her Aunt Gertrude Bordley of Dover, DE; her son Larry (Linda) Evans of Virginia Beach, VA; granddaughters Hope L. Evans and Melanie (Matthew) Twine; grandson Erick Evans; great grandsons; nieces Carolyn (Lenox) Permell, Mildred (Charles) Gatson, Diane (George) McDaniels, Valerie Smith, Stephanie (Dennis) Mitchell; her dear friend Clyde Freeman and a host of relatives and friends.

     A funeral service will be 11:00 A.M. Friday, March 23, 2018 at the Pippin Funeral Home, 119 W. Camden Wyoming Avenue, Wyoming, DE 19934 where there will be a visitation from 10:00 to 11:00 A.M.
