Doris L. Zepp

  1.              Doris Louise Barnes Zepp, formerly of Roanoke Rapids, NC, passed away Friday, December 12, 2014, surrounded by her loving family.

             She was preceded in death by her parents Bessie (nee Ward) and James N. Barnes, her husband Robert L. Zepp, Sr., and her son James R. Zepp.

            Doris was a lifelong homemaker, substitute teacher and director of Place to Play Afterschool Program.  Nothing gave her greater pleasure than creating clothing for her family, crocheting them countless afghans and preparing their favorite meals. She loved gathering with her friends of the Roanoke Valley Quilters Guild to work on countless creations. She was honored for her forty plus years of volunteering with the Girl Scouts and was an active member of First United Methodist Church serving in many capacities, especially the Bethlehem Food Pantry and the Ladies Circle. Doris was also a longtime volunteer with the Halifax Regional Hospital Auxiliary.

            She is survived by her son, Robert L. Zepp, Jr., daughters Ann Z. Jester (Clay) and Susan Z. Stephens; four grandchildren Tracy L. Jester, Aaron C. Jester, Nicholaus V. Stephens, and Amanda S. Falcon; and three great-grandchildren Cole and Ava Falcon and Harper Stephens.

             Services will be held at the Eline Funeral Home at 11824 Reistertown Rd., Reistertown, MD, at 12:00 p.m. on Wednesday, December 17, 2014. Visitation will be one hour prior with internment following the service at Calvary United Methodist Church Cemetery in Gamber, MD. A memorial service will be held in Roanoke Rapids at a later date.  In lieu of flowers the family suggests a donation to the Bethlehem Food Pantry of the First United Methodist Church, P.O. Box 277, Roanoke Rapids, NC  27870; The Alzheimer’s Association, Delaware Valley Chapter Headquarters, 399 Market St., Suite 102, Philadelphia, PA 19106, or a charity of your choice.
