Welcome to the memorial page for

Donald D. "Jake" Tieman

November 24, 2015

Donald “Jake” Tieman passed into the arms of his God this Tuesday, November 24, 2015 after a short illness.

Jake was a veteran of the Delaware National Guard and a retiree from the Diamond State Telephone Company (now Verizon) and also from North American Van Lines (Blacksburg, VA).  Not one to idle his years away, he put in 5 years with Schneider Trucking; was employed as a medical van driver by Delmarva Rural Ministries; and spent some time at Dover Downs as a dealer at the gaming tables.

Jake attended Southside Baptist Church of Camden and the Central Mennonite Church of Dover.  He was a faithful believer in the scriptures and the word of God.

There wasn’t too much Jake didn’t know about everything and was always good at a great conversation or a good argument!  He loved his family and did everything he could for them and was particularly fond of his grandchildren.  He will be greatly missed.

Donald was the son of the late Evelyn Marker Knies and Nelson Smouse Tieman.  He is survived by his wife of 44 years, Patricia Gorman Tieman; his daughter Jeni Tieman; his son Jacob Tieman and his wife Dani Goodnough Tieman; his son Riley Tieman; and his grandchildren Kyle, Adam, Kenny and Shelby; his sister, Toni Lorraine Dabson; his half brother John Knies and his wife Diane; 3 nieces and 1 nephew; and several great nieces and nephews.  He was preceded in death by his brother-in-law, Lyle Dabson.
