David A Lewis, Sr.

     David A. Lewis, Sr., of Smyrna passed away on March 11, 2018.

     Mr. Lewis retired after 25 years of service from Delaware State University in the capacity of recreational manager.  He enjoyed playing the piano, singing, cooking, baking and antiquing.

     David was preceded in death by his wife of 52 years, Frances.  Mr. Lewis is survived by four children:  David A. Lewis, Jr. and his wife Felicia of Dover, Sonja K. L. Homewood and her husband Mark of Queen Creek, Arizona, Tee A Lewis Terrell and her husband Clifford of Dover and Frances L. Lewis Thomas and her husband Gary of Dover;  two sisters, Rosemary Lewis of Dover and Marie Wyler of Dover; six grandchildren and 12 great grandchildren.

     A funeral service will be 11:00 A.M. Saturday, March 24, 2018 at Mt. Zion AME Church, Queen and Fulton Streets, Dover, DE 19904 where there will be a viewing from 9:00 to 11:00 A.M. Saturday.  Burial will follow in Barratts Chapel Cemetery, Frederica.  In lieu of flowers, the family suggests memorial contributions be made to the American Diabetes Association, 100 W. 10th Street, Suite 1002, Wilmington, DE 19801 or to St. Jude’s Children’s Research Hospital, 501 St. Jude Place, Memphis, Tennessee 38105.  Online condolences may be made via www.pippinfuneralhome.com.
