David (Big Dave) Ford

David Ford was called home by his Heavenly Father on Tuesday, January 24, 2017 at his home in Dover, DE.  He was born to the late Ed and Earnest Ford on July 26, 1951 in Wellborn Florida.

David was educated up until the age of twelve years old and later moved to Oranges Mills, Florida.  His years there were spent laboring and farming. He moved to Dover, Delaware and worked for TEAL Construction and R.E. Pierson Construction. He loved to go fishing and crabbing. He also loved football and his favorite team was the Eagles.

He gave his life to Jesus Christ and became a member of the New Jerusalem Baptist Church in Dover, DE where he served as an usher until his illness. Shortly after, he married his sweetheart Algerie Ford.  

He was preceded in death by his parents: Ed and Earnest Ford; brothers: Eugene Ford, Henry Ford, Robert Ford, Joe Cooper, and Willie Jones; sisters: Bertha Clayton and Bernice Allen.

David Ford leaves to cherish his loving memories to his devoted and caring wife Algerie Ford; a son Eric Tilghman (Takeya) of Dover DE; a daughter: Stelleila Cue (Levi) of Daytona, Florida; two step sons: Ralph Seward and Kenny Seward of Dover, DE;  a step daughter: Jasmine Martinez (Son) of Dover, DE; a granddaughter: Jah’Mya Tilghman; twenty-one step grandchildren; 5 great grandchildren; sisters: Ruby Sanders (Pastor John Sanders Sr.) of Lake City, FL and Bettye Payoute (Noah) of Leesburg, FL; brothers: Herbert Ford (Debra) of Lake City, FL, Curtis Ford (Angie) of Lakeland, FL and Ed Ford of Wellborn, FL; and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, friends, church family and other love ones.
