Charles was a great teacher and person. He had an impact on many young people as a teacher and coach. It was my privilege to have him on my staff at the Air Base School and to know him. He was a Marine and so was I.

I coached cross country at Smyrna and had the pleasure of competing with Charlie's teams. We always went head to head! But always remained friends. My sympathy to his family. RIP Charlie 🎽🏆

Africia, I am so sorry for your family's loss. I ran into your dad a few years ago at Killen's Pond during a cross country meet. His smile and love for the sport was so touching. The admiration that the coaches from the area have for him is still evident today. Prayers to you and your family.

To the Bell Family, you have my condolences and sympathy. I will remember "Bell" as we called him, for the conversations and love of Track and Field my husband Sam and he had. They could talk track for hours. He was a good coach and teacher. So sorry for your loss.

My condolences goes out to the Bell family. I was on his CR Cross Country team from 1999-2002. He and his wife were two of the most influential people from my childhood, with his wife being my Cross Country coach and health teacher in junior high. My thoughts and prayers goes out to this wonderful family. May he rest in peace.

Bell Family,

Coach Bell, to many, was not only a Coach, Mentor, Instructor but also a Fine Example. To have impressed on young men and women to Strive to be at their Best not just in running to win the race at the track meet but in life as well. To help one develop and excel from youth to adulthood makes a difference. Missed yet not forgotten for all the leadership brought and taught over the years. In Celebration of Life we send our thoughts and thanks.

I was a student at Dover Air Base High School. I am from the class of 1979. I never had Mr. Bell as a teacher but our school was so small and everyone knew everyone. I do remember that he was very nice all the time. My thought and prayers are with his family.

I'm so very sorry to hear of Mr. Bell's passing. I was a student at DAFB until tenth grade (1997) and Mr. Bell was my science teacher for several years. I just wanted you to know how much of an impression he made on me, and hundreds of other students too, I'm sure.

I was never very good at science, but I still enjoyed his classes and lot, and never felt any pressure from him. He knew I was trying, and never made me feel bad when I couldn't grasp the most simple of scientific concepts. He was always very nice and understanding, and very patient too. I guess he appreciated the effort and knew I'd never be a scientist, because he caught me more than once drawing in class.

I just really hope Mr. Bell knew how loved he was by all of his students, and want you to know too. We all loved him. About 20 years ago or so, my big brother and I went into the school over a weekend (I forget how we managed it), and we wandered around and talked about DAFB. I remember I wrote a note to Mr. Bell letting him know how much I thought of him as a teacher, and I think said something like, "thanks for never getting mad at me for not being good at science, but I became a working graphic artist, so maybe it all worked out". We found a custodian, who opened up Mr. Bell's room so I could put the note on his desk. I hope it didn't get lost or thrown out before he could see it. I just wanted hm to know how much I liked that he was my teacher.

I wanted to express my sincere condolences on your loss. He was a great teacher, and a very, very nice man.

Respectfully,
Lisa Bailey
