Carolyn C. (Callahan) Gedney

Carolyn C. Gedney, Age 85, passed away peacefully on Monday, April 10, 2017, surrounded by her loving family.  She was born on October 24, 1931 in Wilmington, DE. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband Wallace A. Gedney.

Carolyn loved her family and cherished spending time with them. She was a devoted Mother, raising her five children on her own after her husband passing. Carolyn took on a position as dispatcher for DNREC for the State of Delaware for many years, also work at Three Season Campground, Rehoboth, DE and Modern Maturity Center.  She was avid traveler, love to listen to live local music, dancing, camping and attending local community events. Carolyn was never one to be without her camera, she always made sure to take lots of pictures.  After her years with DNREC and Three Season Campground she was actively involved with Harvest Years and Modern Maturity Center. She enjoying helping others and especially her son Steve that suffer a massive stroke.

Carolyn is survived by her loving children, Steve (Teresa), Patricia Braun (David), Tom (Lajuana), Bob (Lynn) and Joanne with whom she resided; grandchildren, Brian (Gabriella), Jessica, Amanda (Spencer Cross), Davis, Matt (Heidi), Katie (Gary Caplinger), Chris (Heather) and Lyndsie Gedney; And great grandchildren: Ava, Jaxson, Alana, Porter, Briella, Maddie, Lucy, Penny, Shane, Annabella, Kenzie and Cole.; and her fur babies Sage and Jasper.

Carolyn was inspiration to many people. She will be sadly missed by all that knew her.

Public Visitation will be Tuesday, April 18, 2017 at Pippin Funeral Home, 119 W. Camden-Wyoming Avenue, Wyoming DE from 6-8pm. Burial will be private.
