Carl was born, May 24, 1947, in Dover, DE to the late, Walter Ergenzinger and Lillian Ergenzinger Weaver. He attended Dover High School, graduating in 1965.

He played Little league Baseball, and was a pitcher for the Dover High Senators, who were called the Senator Baseball Nine by their Coach L. Ginsberg. They were Champions of the Diamond State Conference.  Carl was then offered ,and signed a minor league contract with the Houston Astros. Later he remained an avid baseball fan, and often traveled to Florida to watch Spring Training. Carl was a loyal fan of the New York Yankees.    Carl’s real passion, however, was playing golf, which he enjoyed playing with his friends. He always tried to win. He could drive the ball long, but not always straight.

He had become an outstanding putter. Carl was a member of the Eagle Creek Golf Association on Dover Air Force Base. He achieved every golfers dream with a hole in one.

At family gatherings, Carl was Master Chef of the grill ,with his famous barbecue ribs and his recipe for baked beans.

Carl proudly served his country in the United States Army, and was a Vietnam Veteran. He was employed with Civil Service, and worked in the Azores Portugal(his favorite place), McDill Air Force Base, in Florida; before being transferred to Dover Air Force Base, where he retired.

Carl was the youngest of eight children. He was preceded in death by his sister, Rita Hart, brother, Walter Ergenzinger; and brother-in-law, John Carrow.
