Calvin O. Kingery, 83, of Dover, died on May 14, 2016 at the Delaware Hospice Center in Milford, with family by his side.  Born on January 21, 1933 he was one of ten children raised in Hardy, VA by his parents, Luther & Ethel Kingery.  Upon graduation, Calvin proudly served in the U.S. Navy and U.S. Air Force.  In 1955, while stationed at Dover, he met the love of his life, Ginny.  They made Dover their home and raised their daughter, Teresa.

In 1988, he retired from Civil Service, as an aircraft engine mechanic, working on C124’s, C133’s and eventually the beloved C-5.  In 1991, he retired as a SMSgt from the Air Force Reserves at Dover Air Force Base. Upon retirement, Calvin & Ginny became snowbirds, living in their home in Davenport, FL for six months of each year, for 25 years.

Calvin enjoyed working with his hands and tinkering in the garage and workshop, raising a vegetable garden and keeping his lawn pristine.  Earlier, he enjoyed boating, bowling, horseshoes, horse racing, golfing and NASCAR.  A true Wood Brothers fan, he supported FORD all the way and driver, David Pearson was his all time favorite.  Calvin was a member of First Baptist Church of Dover, Union Lodge #7 for 48 years and Tall Cedars of Lebanon.

Calvin leaves behind his loving daughter, Teresa Dotson; son-in-law, Randy Dotson; grandchildren, Jenna Stamas (Greg), Jaclyn Dotson and Bradley Dotson; great grandson, Landon Stamas; sisters, Martha Thomason (Bobby), Charlotte Stump (Lewis), Sue Huddleston (Warren) and brother, Eddie Kingery (Linda), all from Vinton, VA; and sister, Louise Hines (Lloyd), of Lake Wales, FL; and many nieces and nephews.  In addition to his parents, he was predeceased by his wife, Virginia P. Kingery in 2013; brother, Jim Kingery; and sisters, Joyce Horne, Fannie Saunders, and Betty Garner.

The family would like to extend special appreciation to Sandy Voss, NP; the wonderful staff of nurses of Bayhealth Oncology Department; Dr. Joann Fields; and the Delaware Hospice Center.

Visitation will be held on Saturday, May 21, 2016 from 6:00 to 8:00 pm at Pippin Funeral Home, 119 W.
