Elizabeth H. “Betty” Lancaster, 83, of Dover, and formerly of Chestertown, MD, passed away on November 16, 2015.  Betty was born in Frederica, to the late Harold Spurry Harrington and Elizabeth Lofland Baker.  She was a graduate of Caesar Rodney High School.

Betty was preceded in death by her husband Lt. Col. (Ret) LeRoy M. Lancaster in October 2000.   During their marriage they traveled extensively while stationed in Germany, the Philippines, and Texas.  She was an avid golfer, serving as Ladies Handicap Chairman for a number of years at Chester River Yacht, and Country Club in Chestertown.  She was also very proud of being a member of the “Hole in One Club” having a hole in one in 1986 at Great Oak Landing Golf Course.

During her years in Chestertown, Mrs. Lancaster was active with the Kent County Board of Education, serving as Middle School PTA President and Treasurer of the Kent County Council of PTA’s.  Mrs. Lancaster was active in local Republican politics and was the first woman appointed to the Chestertown Zoning Board of Appeals.

In addition to her parents and husband, Mrs. Lancaster was predeceased by her sister, Dorthea Farrow and brother, Lee Harold Harrington.   She is survived by her daughters and their spouses, Deborah and Michael Wright, of Dover, and Kimberly and Ronald Dyer, of Tucson, and her stepson and his wife, Jeffrey and Beverly Lancaster, of Williamsburg.  She also leaves behind 6 grandchildren.

At Mrs. Lancaster’s request, there will be no services.  She will be interred with her husband in Arlington National Cemetery.
