Bessie C. Russ, 62, of Felton passed away on November 23, 2016.
Mrs. Russ had served as a cook for many years. She had been a member of Metropolitan U. Methodist Church in Harrington and loved talking about God. She enjoyed attending church services on Wednesday and Sunday at the DE Home for the Chronically Ill, where she had been a resident for the past eight years. Mrs. Russ loved her family and friends and liked to visit where she grew up on the family land in Harrington. She enjoyed listening to music, watching TVLand, and talking on the telephone. She enjoyed being outdoors and smoking cigarettes. She was known for being outspoken and determined and loved all types of people.
Her husband, Samuel Marion, preceded her in death. She is survived by her two daughters Samantha A. M. Russ-Young and her husband Shane of Felton and Tabetha E. M. Russ of Dover; her sister, Rosalie W. Anderson of Harrington; and five grandchildren. She was also preceded in death by her parents Ward L. and Margaret G. (Cornish) Russ and by her two sisters Laura B. Smith and Margaret A. Russ
There will be a viewing from 6:00 to 8:00 P.M. Friday evening, December 2, 2016 at Metropolitan United Methodist Church, 109 N. West Street, Harrington, DE 19952. A funeral service will be 1:00 P.M. Saturday, December 3, 2016 at Mt. Enon Baptist Church. 600 N. Church Street, Milford, DE 19963. Burial will be private. Online condolences may be made via www.pippinfuneralhome.com.
