Anthony W. Hines, of Dover, Delaware went home to be with the Lord, on Friday, April 8, 2016.  He was 58 years old. Anthony was born on September 15, 1957 in Worchester County, Maryland.  He was preceded in death by his parents, Rhoda Mae and Paul Douglas Hines; grandparents, Hattie and Roger Briddell; a brother, Fernando Hines; sisters, Cynthia Hines, and Linda Tull; his Aunt Alberta Briddell, who helped raise him; and his niece Jasmine Hines.

Anthony was a funny and mischievous child, and an overprotective brother.  He attended Sussex Central High School, where he wrestled and ran track.  He graduated from James Grove before enlisting at the age of 18, in the United States Army, as a Terminal Operations Coordinator.  After receiving an honorable discharge, he worked in the trucking industry, eventually retiring from Swift Transportation Company.

Anthony cherished spending time with his family.  He was the life of the party, and loved to sing, dance, and go to the casino with friends.  He was always willing to help anyone in need, and that continued in his passing.  As an organ donor, he was able to give the gift of life to others.  He had a passion for the homeless, and was employed as a Site Supervisor, at Dover Interfaith Mission for Housing. Anthony was a man of great faith.  He loved the Lord, and always believed that God would work it out.  Regardless what was going on in his life, he continued to praise God and share the word with others.

Anthony is survived by his loving daughter, Latasha Harris of Lincoln, Delaware; surviving siblings are brothers, Decarol Hines (wife Barbara) of Wilmington, Delaware, Andre Hines of Wilmington, Delaware; sisters, Sylvia Hines of Wilmington, Delaware, Rhoda Williams (husband Marvin) of Newark, Delaware; and Paula Wayman (husband Earl) of Dover, Delaware; surviving brother in law, Telford Tull of Millsboro, Delaware; surviving  sister in law Brenda Hines, his surviving aunts, Sylvia Griffin of Frankford, Delaware, Gwendolyn Briddell of Philadelphia, Pennsylvania, Martha Briddell of Whaleyville, Maryland, and Lucy Briddell of Eastville, Virginia; a host of nieces, nephews, and cousins; longtime companion, Cynthia Weathersby of Dover, Delaware; and a large circle of friends.

A Celebration of Life will take place on Tuesday, April 19, 2016, at 12:00 noon at Pippin Funeral Home, 119 W. Camden Wyoming Avenue, Wyoming, Delaware.  Friends may view two hours prior.  Burial with military honors will follow, at Barratt’s Chapel Cemetery, Frederica.
